Plumbing Designer

Department: Mechanical Engineering
Location: Fargo, ND

Are you a skilled Journeyman Plumber looking for a new and exciting challenge? We have a fantastic opportunity for you to bring your expertise to our mechanical engineering team at EAPC, a full-service design consulting firm offering Architecture, Engineering, and Industrial services.

As a Plumbing Designer, you will play a key role in our engineering projects, contributing your hands-on plumbing experience to the design and implementation of cutting-edge mechanical systems. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your practical plumbing skills in a creative and collaborative environment working alongside an experienced engineering team on a diverse portfolio of projects.

As a Plumbing Designer at EAPC, you will:

  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, architects, and clients to ensure expectations are met and successful design is completed
  • Processes drawings received from the architect into models that can be used by the design team
  • Develops design approaches and concepts on assigned projects in coordination with the project engineer
  • Communicate project objectives, problems and solutions with clients, field personnel and internal staff.
  • Perform system design layout and sizing for assigned projects
  • Assist in the studies, load calculation, and selection of equipment to fit the project design
  • Assist or supervise in data collection and/or field verification
  • May hold project manager responsibilities on some projects; tasks include establishing project scope with the client, scheduling work, maintaining communication with the client, attending meetings

To join us, you should have:

  • Journeyman Plumber or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years plumbing design/installation experience preferred, will consider lesser experienced candidates
  • Knowledge of state and/or local construction guidelines
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards
  • Knowledge of construction terminology
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Bluebeam
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Quick technical comprehension and attention to client outcomes
  • Ability to travel and visit client work-sites
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship

The position will report directly to the Mechanical Engineering Department Lead and will work as an integrated member of a multi-discipline, in-house team of engineers, architects, and designers/modelers.

Compensation is based on the applicant's skills, education, and other qualifications.
